Mr. Ian M. Belcurry

My name is Brian McElmurry. I like literature and skateboarding. My novella Rocket Man was recently published as an Ebook by Thought Catalog
This fucking tripped me out. “There’s a dead child buried in the pages of Jack Kerouac’s first novel, The Town and the City. A boy named Julian…”
I’m at Barnes & Noble on my lunch break—having felt a mild physical anxiety all day and a depressive feeling of giving up, wanting to lay down, drink myself numb, just give up—and picked up Joyce Johnson’s new book about Kerouac “the voice is all” and read the intro then the first chapter and the first sentence was this about a dead child named Julian—the name we gave the child we lost (though with Julien; French version) that was born premature and died on Jack Kerouac’s birthday. Jesus. Fuck life.
